The Baby Bust

We are watching the suicide of the West.Immigration is not the main cause of the West’s death. The mass influx of millions of unvetted illegal aliens into the United States, and into all the Western nations, has, of course, contributed to the terminal decline the American people currently face. To deny otherwise would be to deny a basic fact of the twenty-first century. Almost 1.4 million aliens came into the United States in 2023 alone, if official figures are to be believed, which is doubtful, and that is before even counting legal immigration on top of that. American non-Hispanic whites are projected to lose their majority status in America, perhaps forever, within two decades. They already constitute a minority in American children.If you are an attentive reader, that notion should already trigger something in your head. We are not a white-minority country and are a good two decades away from that happening, and yet already fewer babies are being born. This is because the birthrate of American whites already far underperforms virtually everyone else.The problem becomes even more evident in a semi-viral graph that recently spread like wildfire online. Those who shared it had a message: without immigration, the United States would cease to be a superpower. Furthermore, a disaster awaits if we do nothing: without immigration, we will lose close to a third of our population over the next 80 years.The obvious question to ask here, besides illustrating just how much an immigration wave will overtake our population by 2100, is why we are projected to lose a third of our population if we do nothing. The simple fact is that immigration would be a far less contentious topic if our population reproduced at a replacement rate. The current fact of “white replacement” exists because immigrants are not supplementing, but rather replacing, the existing population of the United States, which, as the graph above illustrates, is dying off. Rapidly. To allow mass immigration now would be to allow peacefully now what inevitably would come by force later. Assuming non-replacement birthrates in western nations and above replacement rates outside of them, one of two things will eventually happen.The first, which we are arguably already seeing, is that the economically malnourished and baby-starved nations of the first world will be rendered powerless against a tide of surplus population from the rest of the planet. Lands that European and western powers generally held onto as core territories will become borderlands, as the current borderlands will be lost entirely.The second option, assuming the west stands its ground, secures its borders and defends itself in the short term, but changes nothing about its current situation, will see geopolitics turn for the same result in maybe three generations. People make powers; this is why China, with its leviathan population, will never conceivably be surpassed by Taiwan despite the latter’s extremely thorough economic development. This is also why Israel, an extremely powerful but very small state in the Middle East, is consistently reliant on American support for defense against its less well equipped but far more numerous neighbors. What is not taken by osmosis will be taken by conquest.Of course, there is a third option, and the sooner it is adopted the less the coming catastrophe will damage our civilization: we can restore a healthy society.No healthy society loses a third of its population to death in less than a century. Our civilization is currently facing a state of terminal decline, and the sooner we act to reverse it, the fewer consequences we can avoid. No empire is conquered until it has fallen within. The lack of babies is a symptom of the greater illness we have contracted, one I will discuss in coming weeks and months regularly through this new site. Hopefully, people are persuaded to listen.The clock is ticking, and the elections we face in 2024 will make it tick faster or slower. They will not, however, make it stop.
